About the Author

My name isn't really Nickels. My parents aren't that mean. That is what I go by in cyberspace though, so that is what you can call me. I enjoy my piece of anonymity.

I've been playing sims since the original came out. The one where the parents would hug and make a baby or something. No one ever aged (except from baby to child). I played with the Goths a lot. :) Before that, I remember playing SimCity and spreading destruction. So, needless to say, this has been a fairly consistent obsession for me.

I've always enjoyed writing as well. I occasionally do some freelance work for other blogging sites, but not enough to pay the bills. For that, I have the joy of working retail. It's actually a pretty fun gig most of the time, if you take out the months of November and December. Seriously, be nice to retail workers. It's a much tougher job than most people realize, and it's very thankless. By the time I get off work, I feel like an 80 year old woman.

I'm also an occasional college student. I'm a "non-traditional" student, which is basically a nice way of saying that I've pissed away too much time since I graduated high school and am old. I plan on starting back to school part-time in the spring and will hopefully get my MBA one of these days.

Some random stuff about me:  I'm 25 years old, female, and have been with "that guy" (as my dad calls him) for almost 4 years. I have a miniature dachshund named Snickers who is my baby. She sleeps in my bed, under the covers, with her head on her own pillow. Spoiled. Rotten. I also have a cat named Milo who is old and grumpy 99% of the time. The rest of the time she is eating. I'm from the southern US, and yes, I have an accent. It is thankfully not that thick, but it gets thicker if I am tired (or drunk...I'm unintelligible if both). I do apologize if I say "ya'll" in a post, but it's just so damn natural.

I have big plans for this website that will hopefully develop over time. I'd ultimately like to have several different authors writing here and make it more of a "one-stop" for people looking to read these kinds of stories. For right now though, it's just me. I hope to get a new post out twice a week on Standing at the Edge. If that seems to go well, I'll probably try to start some kind of challenge story also.

Thanks for stopping in. Make sure to leave me comments. I appreciate them very much!
